Aguilar Castillo Love is the product of business and legal traditions that reach back for more than three centuries in Central America. At the time of independence, almost 200 years ago, members of the Aguilar family had already achieved prominence in the practice of law in Costa Rica and El Salvador. The Castillo Love family has practiced law and been business leaders in Guatemala for more than 120 years.
The modern law firms that were the immediate predecessors of Aguilar Castillo Love are John Aguilar & Asociados, founded by John Aguilar Osborne in Costa Rica in 1963, and Bufete Castillo Love, established by Francisco J. Castillo Love in Guatemala in 1969. After 14 years of close professional relationship through Central America, the two firms concluded a formal merger in February 2006.
